Job Specifications:

  • Good command over English language in speaking and writing.
  • Basic understanding of design parameters of Outside Plant installation including civil construction requirements and material specifications.
  • Sound knowledge of Fault Management practices including fault detection, FOC splicing & handling procedures and quality requirements for temporary and permanent repairs.
  • Sound knowledge of Fiber Optic network, Fault detection procedures and test equipments being utilized in FOC testing and fault tracing (i.e. OTDR, Optical Level Meter, Optical Power Meter, Laser source, Optical talk set, Cable locator).
  • Able to read and understand Outside Plant As Built and Splice diagrams, Cable utilization plans and technical drawings & manuals of test and measuring instruments.
  • Valid Vehicle Driving License.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions

Job Profile :

  • Carry out testing for trouble shooting in case of problem on the network and evaluate the test results of FOC to pinpoint the fault point or any irregularity and damage in the cable span.
  • Apply emergency & permanent restoration procedures whenever required.
  • Carry out emergency splicing in case of faults and perform permanent splicing during MDTs.
  • Carry out routine checks on outside plant installation like ducts markers, manholes and physical inspection of the cable route.
  • Carry out regular patrolling for initial detection of activities along the cable routes that may potentially affect the cables and hand over the cases to be followed up and managed by the cable patrols.
  • Carry out cable locations on request of the Company for third parties working on or near the cable.
  • Carry out PMR, record and evaluate results
  • Provide information regarding amendments, alterations in the outside plant for diagrams update.
  • Maintain site documentation and update outside plant records including site and spare parts inventory.
  • Provide on site training to other colleagues and cable patrol technicians as and when required.

Cable Patrolling Technician :

Educational Qualification : At least an intermediate School Certificate

Experience : Minimum 2 years in cable patrolling.

Job Specifications:

  • Arabic and English language in speaking and writing.
  • Basic understanding of design parameters of Outside Plant installation including civil construction requirements and material specifications.
  • Able to read and understand Outside Plant As Built and Splice diagrams.
    Valid Vehicle Driving License.

Job Profile :

  • Carry out routine scheduled cable route patrolling to identify and third party activity in close proximity of fiber optic cables which may jeopardize their operation and ensure that necessary precautions are taken.
  • Carry out routine checks on outside plant installation like ducts markers, manholes and physical inspection of the cable route.
  • Follow up the cases identified by cable technicians so as to ensure that no damage inflicted by third parties on the Company FOC network by such activities.
  • In conjunction with Cable Technician, carry out cable locations on request of the Company for third parties working on or near the cable.
  • Participate in cable repairs.
  • Obtain incident report and police report at the time of cut.

Maximum Age as on 01.08.2010: 30 years

Place of Posting : Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)

Contract Period: 1 year initially which is extendable as per the requirement of project.

Consolidated Salary : 1500 to 2000 Saudi Riyal Per month depending upon the qualification & experience.
